B.S.A Rocket Goldstar Rep 1961

We are pleased to be able to bring this wonderful example of a BSA Rocket Goldstar, although she is a replica there is no mistaking the large number of Goldstar parts that have made their way onto the BSA A10. You will notice the rear set footrests, full front end setup with both brake drums being of the 3 finned type. Although there is not much in the way of paperwork the bike was created by the previous owner over the last 20 years as a full restoration, covering only 925 miles thereafter.

Widely recognised as one of the most desirable of all factory-built ‘café racers’, the Rocket Gold Star arrived in 1962 along with the first of BSA’s new unitary construction range. A combination of – mainly – Gold Star cycle parts and the A10 Super Rocket twin-cylinder engine, the newcomer represented the last of the old ‘pre-unit’ line rather than a new departure and thus was destined for a relatively short life. The idea of making what was effectively a twin-cylinder Goldie originated with Banbury motorcycle dealer Eddie Dow, who had built up a considerable body of expertise in looking after BSA’s high-performance singles. Dow believed that his hybrid would bridge the gap between the end of Gold Star production and the introduction of new unitary construction sports models, and so it proved.
The model was offered in a number of different forms and with a host of options relating to controls and equipment. Around 1,800 were made over a two-year period. Today genuine examples are highly sought after, their relative scarcity leading to the construction of numerous replicas.
