Triumph Trophy TR6C 1966

£7995

An exceptional opportunity to own a meticulously restored, matching-numbers 1966 Triumph Trophy TR6C in the UK. Renowned as the ultimate 1960s “desert sled,” this iconic 650cc twin is in excellent, turn-key condition following a comprehensive restoration back in 2016.
It features the definitive TR6C stripped-back competition styling, complete with the signature high-level left-side exhaust pipes, slimline fuel tank and flawless paintwork. The rebuilt 650cc upgraded to twin-carb engine starts easily on the kick, idles beautifully, and pulls strong through the four-speed gearbox with that unmistakable British twin growl.
The bike has just undergone a recent full service, including fresh fluids, valve adjustment, timing check, and carb tune, meaning it is ready to ride or show immediately. The ignition system has been upgraded to electronic with a Pazon for modern reliability. Registered as a Historic Vehicle, it is tax and MOT exempt, and fully ULEZ compliant. Viewing highly recommended

Triumph’s immense success in off-road racing in the USA prompted the factory at Meriden to produce two iconic, specially adapted motorcycles aimed directly at the professional and amateur American dirt bike racer. Built specifically at the request of Johnson Motors of Pasadena, California—the legendary West Coast distributor—these models included the twin-carburettor T120C Bonneville (better known as the TT Special) and the single-carburettor, widely versatile TR6C Trophy ‘Competition

The 1966 model year is highly prized by collectors as one of the ultimate expressions of the pre-“oil-in-frame” era. The 1966 TR6C is instantly recognisable by its distinctive, stripped-back styling. It featured a smaller, lightweight 2.3-gallon fuel tank adorned with the new-for-1966 “eyebrow” chrome Triumph badges, a VDO enduro-type speedometer, and a wide-ratio gearbox tailored for navigating trails and desert washes.
